A lot seems to be happening around the site these days. We thank all the people who have helped support our product. Yesterday, some of the nice people at Hardware Canucks wrote a very nice post in the NCIX.com forums, reffering to the story of the guy who recovered his laptop by giving the IP tracing information to the RCMP.

We make a lot of effort on tracing the mentioning of our product and taking care of our customers and relations to our customers. Off cause we cannot thank enough for all this attention. But a lot of questions have risen from the debate and we would like to comment on those.

First of all: Nothing matters more to this company then delivering honest service to people in need.

Second: People have also questioned how the service works. By principle we think that it is OK to keep this technical information to our selves. Secondly telling everyone an exact breakdown of how and what it does would render our terms of use legally useless. What we can tell is that the program will work as soon as Windows loads and the computer has internet connection.

Third: IPSneak.net is a completely new company. We do not ourselves run any servers or any part of the service, but rely on trusted partners like Surftown and Microsoft. That is why we feel very confident in our solution and the stability of our partners. IPSneak.net does not have big budgets and are not dependant on generating revenue for greedy investors. This is a grass-roots company that relies on the economic gratefulness of its customers.

Lastly: IP Sneak is not guaranteed to return an IP when a computer is stolen, but given the right circumstance it will. Just like a seatbelt won’t always save your life in a car crash. A lot of people have been talking negatively on the odds of this working. But people who say IP Sneak have slim chances of working, are generally are very IT accomplished people and they just cannot imagine anyone would just steal a laptop and boot it right up. But the reason why IP trackers work does not have a technical explanation. It is a social-demographic reason. Thieves are generally desperate people from lower social classes. Stealing a computer is mainly driven by the knowledge that a computer is expensive.

All of these questions and explanations will go into a new FAQ section, but for now we just wanted to publish them quickly.
